THE HEAD
THE HEAD
Bahr III Signature Series
Acrylic on Canvas
24 x 36”
This work was created at a gallery opening in Downtown Wilmington and was where my signature stick figure array was born, coincidentally at the same time my daughter came into this world. I’ve always been a fan of interactive art and as I was painting live at the opening I invited onlookers to add their own stick figures to the painting. As you may notice, they are not all uniform in scale or stroke like my Signature pieces that would come later, but I find that it makes the work more interesting and highlights the fact that we all are a little different in our approach to stick figure drawing and life in general. This piece does house a secret puzzle. As I performed the final count after I completed it I was surprised to find that one of the stick figures does NOT have a body. There is single floating head that blends seamlessly into the painting and I would have perhaps never discovered it had it not been for counting them. I know its location and with a clue as to which quadrant it is in a few people have found it, but it is a sneaky little circle that will disappear the moment you look away.
